SETTE ARCHI HOTEL

HISTORY OF DODO’

❝ This Hotel was built by my grandparents Rinaldo and Jolanda Bibolini during the years 1952-53 over the site of a bombed house. Initially my grandmother commissioned 4 apartments and began to rent them out to people who came to this village, which at the time could not be served by any road, to enjoy the seaside. Upon noticing that Bocca di Magra was beginning to attract more and more people, she transformed those apartments into rooms that, in a few years’ time, added up to a total of 25. Our clientele was Italian but we had many foreigners too, especially Germans and British, who spent their holidays "in Bocca". My grandmother took care of the general business while my grandfather was an excellent chef. They both managed the Hotel until 1966, the year of my grandfather’s death, and then my grandmother decided to run the business herself while my parents took care of something else entirely. Sette Archi was managed by several different directors until 1997, that’s when, together with my mom and my brothers too, we decided to gain it back. There was so much work to be done, starting from the foundations, but without being discouraged and in just two years’ time, we managed to restore it completely to its former glory and started to manage it successfully.
We opened for business on Easter 1998 not even knowing how to make a simple cappuccino!
Year after year we have continued to restore the premises and add embellishments in order to make the structure increasingly comfortable and welcoming. In 2011 our swimming pool was inaugurated too, located right in the middle of the garden. We have devoted a lot of time and care to our cuisine and decided to open our Restaurant even to external guests. Today this very Restaurant is called the Archetto and it’s managed, I would say successfully, by my husband Alberto. We have employed many people. We have hosted many people, some of whom have become friends".
